Rai jago go-o, jago shyamer monmohini binodini Rai (2)
Wake up o Rai ( short name for Radha),
the beloved, who captured the heart of Shyam (Krishna)
Jege dekho aar to nishi nai ..go jaya Raadhe
Jago shyamer monmohini binodini Rai
Rai jago go-o, jago shyamer monmohini binodini Rai
Wake up and behold
The darkness has been dispelled
Shyamo ange ango diya-a, achho Radhe ghumaiya-a..
Kulkalanker bhoy ki tomar nai …go jaya Raadhe
Jago shyamer monmohini binodini Rai
Rai jago go-o, jago shyamer monmohini binodini Rai
Raadhe, you are sleeping ..
with your body on the body of Shyam.
Are you not afraid of blemishing your family reputation?
Bashi phul jale phele-e, aano shobe phul tuliye -e..
Shey phul diye jugal ke shajai ..go jaya Raadhe
Jago shyamer monmohini binodini Rai
Rai jago go-o, jago shyamer monmohini binodini Rai
Throwing away the withered flowers in the stream,
let us pick out the fresh flowers
and decorate the dual idol ( of Radha Krishna).
Amra tomar sebar dashi, jugal charan bhalobashi-i
Jugal bina anno asha nai … go jaya Raadhe
Jago shyamer monmohini binodini Rai
Rai jago go-o, jago shyamer monmohini binodini Rai
We are attendants at your service,
we worship both feet.
Our only wish and hope is you.
In this song, the underlying idea of spiritual devotion is clear. Hearing the song, several thoughts floated into my mind. Excited, I tried to express them to my father and then my mother, over phone. Suddenly, I became aware that these ideas were communicated to me through chance vibrations. I was not doing justice by trying to relate them in words.
It made me self-conscious. A question remained in my mind. “Was this to be shared or kept as a tête-à-tête?”
I am sure all spiritual minds will capture the subtle allusions in this song of awakening.
Hi, i was searching for the lyricist of “Rai Jago Go” for a while knowing that all folk songs doesn’t have a sole writer. If you have the information on this kindly share.
I am asking around to see if I can find that answer for you 😀
