Salt-Peppered Life

Salt and pepper are “too” simple spices yet the most essential ingredients of any delectable entrée. Their nature is complementary or may I correct myself and actually say “complimentary”….They symbolize power in simplicity. Without them everything is insipid. This black and white duo is in short, the complete winner!!

At this point you may be having serious doubts about the palatability of a write-up that is talking about salt and pepper, arguably (NOT) the best thing since sliced bread! Obviously, what could be talked about them that everyone does not already know?

Often times we take things for granted, without truly understanding what it symbolizes, its innate worth, and easily misplace the credit to the glittering superficial “cherry on top”. Ironically, the worth of a person or thing is truly appreciated in their absence. To add to this paradox, the society today silently ignores when a person is ACTUALLY doing something worthwhile. Positive feedbacks pour in thousands when people see an opportunity to benefit from the action. On the flip side, criticism comes as nothing but an expression of inconvenience the action may have caused the person or group.

You would agree that caring for sick and elderly relatives is no fun. Successful professionals have far more important work to get done than sit around for a loved one — just BE THERE to say “You are not alone. We can make it work together.” It does not seem useful. There is no accolades to be received for being human. However, a sick person appreciates from their heart, the support of a caring relative. They may feel the tremendous urge to get better no matter how hopeless their situation was to begin with.

Is it magical? No medicines can explain this! Yet left alone, the same individual may have given up and deteriorated, starting from the same condition. Yet these angels are unnoticed messengers of divinity, only felt through the stark difference in their absence. God bless theses angels, always. They are the true WINNERS!!
