Guru Grace

Certain experiences are inexpressible in words. The depth of the feelings are simply indescribable. In spite of that, I am making a humble attempt to express how grateful I am to receive Gurudev’s grace.

Seeing Gurudev in person for the first time and being able to touch his feet and offer my (pranamas) obeisance transported me to a space of bliss. The following day I had a late afternoon flight back from San Jose to Denver, where I currently live. My yoga buddy Fernando suggested we try to get another darshan of Gurudev in the morning. We had used all our contacts and exhausted all creative innovations to find a way to see Gurudev. So here we were waiting for an hour on the 20th floor elevator landing area along with 50 other people crowded next to each other. All were eagerly waiting for a glimpse of Gurudev. That is when the hotel security came up and asked us all to leave as that was a fire code violation.

We came down to the lobby not knowing what is the next step. Another of my yoga buddy Sandhya came and sat beside me on the curved sofa in the waiting area. We all took a picture together. Then she recognized another friend, a lovely lady sitting right next to me. After talking for a while she mentioned my name and said she can sing too. May be she can join the chorus. The lovely lady was none other than our beloved Sujata ji.

Sandhya sent Sujata ji’s contact number before I reached Denver. After hesitating for a couple days, I , a novice singer, sent her my recording of a bhajan, “Paoji maine Ram ratan dhan payo”, keeping my fingers crossed. The rest is the beginning of a wonderful musical journey that I could only dream of. Only Gurudev’s grace has made this dream a reality.
